Who said architects only design? Who said architects don’t take up activities that seem unrelated to their profession? Who said architects don’t play football?
As it turns out, not only do they play, they can also form a team that is competitive beyond all expectations. Our School’s football team was founded in September 2013 from scratch, by students from different years (from the youngest to the oldest). After the response it received and the collective energy it gathered in its first steps, it aims to become an institution in the School and in the everyday life of its students. Its principles are reflected in four words: fun, sport, team spirit, organisation. With the first two, we show that we can get away from our laptops and our routine and open up to activities that bring us together, and bring us into contact with the other schools of AUTh (and what better way than sport?). With the last two, we prove to ourselves that we architects can work as a team, each recognising their role, towards a common goal, always guided by good organisation. This, of course, is the cornerstone of football and of every team, and it means regular training and decisions that take the wishes of the members seriously into account.
The football team is open to all students of the School who like to play football. To take part in training and in the university league matches, students must register at the AUTh University Gym. But the team doesn’t stop there: it has an organised group of supporters who make an impression in the stands and beyond. The team often uses imaginative ways to call students to its matches, such as humorous videos, and helps organise parties and other School events together with the other student groups.
One school, one team, one manifesto: “Fun is more”
