The Faculty of Engineering Drama Group started in October 2006 as an initiative of students of the Faculty of Engineering. The response was so strong that the group now has many members from the Faculty of Engineering and beyond. The group takes an acting (and often directing) approach that works through the actors’ bodies. Every body has unimagined possibilities, untapped abilities and trapped emotions that remain unlived. Through intensive exercises we try to awaken what is hidden inside each body, as well as the body itself, which, if nothing else, has fallen into sedentary inertia.
The group has staged the following plays so far:
- 2007: “Can’t Pay? Won’t Pay!” by Dario Fo
- 2008: “The Time We Used to Hurt”, written by the group
- 2009: “Not Far from Here”, written by the group
- 2010: “Can You Take It?”, written by the group
- 2011: “The Scarecrow’s Dream” by Eugene Trivizas
- 2012: “Anatomy Lesson etc.” by Antonis Samarakis
- 2013: “Boo”, written by the group
